A little over a week ago, I found out that the nagging pain in my hip was actually a femoral neck stress fracture. While part of me was relieved to finally have an answer to the pain that had already been preventing me from running, the reality also set in that this was a real injury, one that would sideline me for awhile (6 weeks to be exact).

I set a pretty lofty goal for SeaWheeze — one of the first half marathons I decided to race in several years (Austin doesn’t count because #hills). I wanted to run a 1:35 or faster…and it didn’t happen. Neither did a PR (by 6 seconds…come on!). And, I’m totally okay with the outcome! I learned
It’s my fifth summer running and sweating in Houston and I’ve picked up a few essentials that I just can’t live without!
One of my favorite things to do while traveling on holidays is run the local 5K or fun run! Read on for my race recap of the Moe’s Firecracker 5K in Naples, FL.

I may no longer be calling it the “dreadmill.” After much anticipation from the running community, RacePace, Houston’s first treadmill studio is up and running. With temperatures quickly beginning to rise, their soft opening comes at the perfect time for Houstonian runners. I was lucky to be part of their first ever RP Speed class on
Whoever said two miles was easy was a big, fat liar. I’m telling you from first hand experience, it’s not. Especially when it’s 4 p.m. in the afternoon in hot, humid Texas. While it may not have been easy, the Bayou Bash Relays, hosted by the Bayou City Road Runners at the lovely TC Jester Park, sure was a blast. I did relays all the time growing up as a swimmer, but when it comes to sports on land, I tend to fly solo. Running this past weekend was a solid reminder of how much I actually love being part of a team.
In Houston, we pretty much LIVE for these incredible months of pre-summer weather. Just before the heat really cranks up we get to pretend we live in California and just bask in the beautiful sunny weather. So with that said, when it’s beautiful outdoors (fingers crossed for no thunderstorms), I love to practice yoga outdoors. And this weekend, I have two opportunities to do so: tomorrow at Yoga on the Avenue and Sunday at Mind Tribe’s Vinyasa Tribe. Here are five reasons why I love practicing outdoors and why you might, too!
