A little over a week ago, I found out that the nagging pain in my hip was actually a femoral neck stress fracture. While part of me was relieved to finally have an answer to the pain that had already been preventing me from running, the reality also set in that this was a real injury, one that would sideline me for awhile (6 weeks to be exact).

Race Recap: Bayou Bash Relays

Whoever said two miles was easy was a big, fat liar. I’m telling you from first hand experience, it’s not. Especially when it’s 4 p.m. in the afternoon in hot, humid Texas. While it may not have been easy, the Bayou Bash Relays, hosted by the Bayou City Road Runners at the lovely TC Jester Park, sure was a blast. I did relays all the time growing up as a swimmer, but when it comes to sports on land, I tend to fly solo. Running this past weekend was a solid reminder of how much I actually love being part of a team.
