Whoever said two miles was easy was a big, fat liar. I’m telling you from first hand experience, it’s not. Especially when it’s 4 p.m. in the afternoon in hot, humid Texas. While it may not have been easy, the Bayou Bash Relays, hosted by the Bayou City Road Runners at the lovely TC Jester Park, sure was a blast. I did relays all the time growing up as a swimmer, but when it comes to sports on land, I tend to fly solo. Running this past weekend was a solid reminder of how much I actually love being part of a team.
I love running, I love marathons and I love being able to share that passion with the world (or at least my community). I’ve represented the Chevron Houston Marathon for the last three years as a race ambassador and this year, I’m also an ambassador for CIM (California International Marathon) which side note, just opened registrations
I grew up in California, lived in Hawaii and now I live in Texas. Common theme? Heat. So naturally, when I began my running journey it was in warm weather. This year, Houston’s weather has been especially warm. Looking back at the season, 90 percent of my long marathon training runs have been extra sweaty.
