I’ve totally been digging the unicorn trend lately. I may not be into consuming all of the sugar it involves, but I’m a pink girl (and Lisa Frank fanatic) at heart so this trend pretty much makes me swoon. Which is why when fellow blogger and boss babe, Erin, a.k.a. Ms. Independent, announced the theme of her annual event I was in L-O-V-E.
Ms. Independent’s annual Girls Night Out event is an opportunity for women to get together, network, enjoy a beverage (or two), mingle with cool local brands, all while supporting a great charity. This year, a portion of event proceeds went to Meals on Wheels of Greater Houston. So we could enjoy our cake, and feel good that someone else would be getting some, too.
Speaking of cake, there was plenty! When it came to sweets, I absolutely adored the truffles from Bonjour Brigadeiro. They looked too good to eat, but tasted amazing.
I was also blown away by the venue. 2929 Weslayan is an upscale apartment complex located just behind Highland Village and the event was hosted in their social room near the pool. It was the perfect gathering place and if I hadn’t just resigned my lease, I might be tempted to move!
Erin really thought of everything when it came to planning this event exclusively for women. Photo ops were abundant (sadly I missed the belly dancing performance), the snacks were yummy, vendors weren’t pushy, and she even had a relaxation area set up! But beyond the amenities of the event, what Erin has created is an intimate network of women who can easily converse and connect with one another. I loved meeting other bloggers, entrepreneurs, and interesting women I may not have met otherwise.
After the event, I settled in back at home and finally started digging through my swag bag. Now, I’ve been to tons of events, done races, etc. and this swag bag topped them all. I’m a huge fan of the edible treats and loved the Nourish Snacks‘ Coco’Nilla Crunch granola bites and the Glamm Girl wine gummies!
Thanks for a great event, I’m already pumped for next year!

I enjoyed this event too and I never thought about this being like Lisa Frank but it totally is!
The ’90s are just making a comeback all the way around…and I love it!
