Houston’s phenomenal fall weather this past weekend meant that being outside was non-negotiable. Luckily, Houston always has something happening outdoors this time of year. So after my morning run and yoga class, we ubered downtown to the Via Colori Street Painting Festival. I always recommend ubering downtown, especially from where we live in Montrose. It’s quick, cheap, and you don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot!
It was our first time going to Via Colori, which is pretty surprising considering that I’ve lived here for almost four years. One of the beverage sponsors of the event was Stella Artois, so we grabbed beer (I opted for cidre which was pretty tasty), and wandered through the streets to view the art. Here were a few of our favorite pieces:
In addition to the art, Via Colori had two different stages with live entertainment including dance troupes and bands. Overall, a nicely executed event that was perfect for the incredible weather. It was also really nice to see so many prominent companies in the city come together to sponsor the event which ended up raising $400,000 for the Center for Hearing and Speech.
Since the weather was so perfect, we decided to make a full day out of being downtown. Downtown is actually really walkable and there are some great places to walk to, so we headed for Discovery Green en route to 8th Wonder Brewery in EaDo. Step goal and weekend goals complete!
